Surgical truss
Surgery is not always recommended. Some patients may not be suited to surgical repair, perhaps because of age or concurrent medical problems. In these circumstances, you may be advised to consider a surgical truss. A truss is a type of belt with a pad which presses directly over a hernia to prevent the hernia from protruding. A surgical truss is not a cure but a way of controlling the symptoms and gives the patient a feeling of confidence and security.
